DEEP THOUGHTS (AND SHALLOW ONES) FROM A WRITER-PRODUCER-POET-COLUMNIST WHO'S STILL TRYING TO FIGURE THINGS OUT

This particular strip feels like it sums up at least a quarter of my life.
As I wrote the post above, the sentence beginning with “If you’re not” triggered my dreaded overthink response. I immediately began trying to figure out if instead of the original phrase I should say, “If you aren’t,” and wondering why “if you’re not” is my go-to way of expressing this simple thought. Do both phrases really mean the same thing? Or is there some nuance I’m missing? Dammit, I’m going to be sitting and struggling with this all day, aren’t I?
Did you ever figure it out? 🙂
Still working on it. However, this is a whole lot better than so many other things that could be on my mind.
